Letterboxing

I am a total letterboxing addict. If I haven't told you about it (or I didn't make any sense), www.atlasquest.com and www.letterboxing.org will clarify it for you.

Just putting this thought out there... would anyone like to plant a letterbox in their home area? If you want to do it and have a cool box idea, I would love to carve a stamp for it and send it to you. It could be planted under your name (if you want to start letterboxing) or under my name. I'm getting pretty handy with the carving knife.

Alyson and I found our 50th box this weekend!

Update:For anyone curious about what the stamps look like, last weekend Alyson and I checked the first stamp we planted. It's a great hiding spot, we planted it in SEP06. Since we've lost a couple boxes lately, I brought home the log book pages that were stamped by people who've found the box (they also log it in online so we know approx how many people found it). Here's a picture of the stamps from people that found our 'Indian Trail Tree' box so far. The book next to the pages is our logbook, which shows the stamp I carved and hid in the box.

Hey Al, you can send us one and explain how to stash it. I'd be happy to stash one or two or a few for you. Will I need to go back and check on them? Do they need regular upkeep or attention? No need to put anyone's name on them other than yours!!!

But could you do swans? Our Public Garden is known for our lesbian swans. :)

Maybe I'll carve a swan stamp! My new thought is to carve tiny duck stamps (like it might fit in a film cannister) and send them all around to any Cottey person that wants one. Then it's be a duck series waddling around. It's a lot easier to hide a small stamp and fewer of them get stolen/thrown away as trash.

I don't think I'll have cake. My fav is my Mom's chocolate cream pie and, since I don't live close enough, no choc pie for me!
