My life has been shaped/affected by my dad, but I don't think those things are anything inherently related to "maleness". My life was shaped by his job, his hobbies, his personality. I think the more important issue is growing up with two parents.
I did not have the greatest relationship with either of my Dads. I want to say that a father has a HUGE influence in a child's life, but if it is a negative one, what does that do for you? I, however, have a wonderful Grandfather that has shaped my life. That being said, I am pretty sure your kids will do fine . . . any good male influence will have a lasting impression. Just be good Mommies! ;)
